Brid Clarke Watercolours

Welcome to my site!

I am a watercolour artist living in Malahide, a vibrant and rapidly growing seaside village north of Dublin in Ireland.

Living means being part of a diverse family, Pat my husband is a property and management consultant and also a creative photographer, Nuala living in New York is an artist, Lorna is a civil engineer living in Frankfurt, David is just back from a world trip, graduate of Physics at Trinity College, a committed canoeist and a zany sculptor.

I initially painted in oils but just over 20 years ago, when David was born, I discovered watercolours.

Spring Emerging

When I paint landscapes, I find that watercolour most fluently expresses the ever-changing and fleeting mood of Ireland, and especially so of the Atlantic Coast from Donegal thro' Sligo, Mayo, Connemara to Cork and Kerry. I enjoy exploring the relationship between water, land, reflections and the built environment, including harbours and villages.

On the East Coast I paint mainly in Malahide, Howth and South Dublin.

I also paint extensively throughout Europe but especially in Venice and Tuscany in Italy and in the Dordogne region of France.

The recurring urge to paint more vibrant colour inevitably leads me to explore flowers (I particularly like Amaryllis, Lilies and Sunflowers ) and still life.
